Absolute Aromas Melissa pure essential oil 2ml, (Melissa offinalis) is pale yellow to clear in colour and carries a subtle, Sweet-Lemony, and herbaceous aroma.
Method of Extraction:
Steam distillation of the leaves and flowering tops
For the ultimate in luxury baths, try 2 drops of Melissa with 1 drop of Rose in 10ml of Jojoba, added to warm bathwater. A glass of champagne is the only other requirement!
Melissa is steam distilled from the herb which has been known for hundreds of years in Europe, sometimes as Balm or Lemon Balm. Unfortunately, Melissa is one of the most adulterated and copied essential oils and genuine Melissa oil makes up only a small fraction of the amount that is sold commercially.
Absolute Aromas is delighted to have found an excellent source of True Melissa oil, produced in very small quantities in Southern Ireland. We also produce a blend of essential oils, including Lemon, Lemongrass and Citronella, which has a similar aroma, called Melissa Type.
True Melissa has a delicate, lemony, herbaceous aroma which uplifts and comforts the mind. Given the rarity of the oil, it is probably best not blended with others, but therapeutically it combines well with Rose (preferably Otto).
